Posted 9 Jul 2018: VGPL to Hold Dog Days of Summer Event.

VGPL will hold its first ever Dog Days of Summer event at the library, 14 Avenida Torreon, in Eldorado next to the El Dorado Community School from 1–3 pm on Saturday, July 21.

There will be two opportunities to hear local author Dirk Wales read from his books on the famous U.S. Mail Rail dog, Owney, who also has his own postage stamp.

Meet search and rescue canines from Sandia Search Dogs based in Albuquerque. Assistance Dogs of the West from Santa Fe will bring a junior trainer with a newly recruited puppy trainee.

Make the acquaintance of community outreach dogs and find out what they do.

Española Humane is bringing dogs of all ages; stop by and take home a new friend!

Check out special displays of books and media all about dogs – from Balto to Winn Dixie (and Lassie, of course)!

The event is free and open to all two-legged humans; please leave your pets at home.
