About Us

Vista Grande Public Library (VGPL) is a community library serving southeastern Santa Fe County with a full range of library services. Library cards are required to borrow materials and may be obtained by showing identification, proof of address and completing an application.

VGPL opened its doors in April 2001, funded by the New Mexico State Legislature. The library was expanded in 2003 with a combination of state, county and donor funding. Most recently Santa Fe County provided construction funds for a 4,000 square foot expansion and the new space opened in 2014.

Unlike most other public libraries, this library is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, with its membership consisting of adult library-card holders. Each year an elected
Board of Directors must raise money through fundraisers and donations to make up its operating budget. Some funding is received from the State of New Mexico as grants-in-aid, and Santa Fe County provides an annual grant to support operations. In addition, grants are sought to enhance library services. Donations of time, talent and monies are always welcome. For more information on how you can support the Library, please see our Support Us page. Or, you may select the Donate Today button or QR code on this page to donate today.
